Coverage & Protection

Warranty Coverage You Can Actually Rely On

Every WarmPath installation is backed by a written workmanship warranty plus manufacturer coverage on equipment and components. Here is exactly what is covered, for how long, and how to file a claim.

Coverage at a Glance

Three layers of protection on every installation. All coverage starts from the date the system is commissioned and activated.

10 years

Workmanship Warranty

Covers our labor and installation methods on new driveway, walkway, and parking pad installations. If a failure is caused by how we installed the system, we repair it at no cost.

5 years

Retrofit Workmanship

Same protection on retrofit installations. Retrofit projects use existing surfaces, so the workmanship window is shorter than a full new installation by design.

12 months

Repair Warranty

Every repair we perform carries a 12-month warranty on our labor and the specific parts we install. If the same issue recurs, we return at no cost.

5–20 years

Manufacturer Coverage

Boilers, pumps, tubing, heating cable, controls, and sensors carry manufacturer warranties ranging from five to twenty years depending on the brand and component.

What Is and Is Not Covered

We keep this list specific because vague warranty language helps no one. If you have a question about your specific situation, call us.

Covered Under Warranty

  • Defective heating cable or tubing from the manufacturer
  • Boiler, pump, and valve failure within the manufacturer window

  • Faulty electrical connections we installed
  • Premature surface failure caused by improper base preparation
  • Drainage issues caused by our grading or drainage design

  • Workmanship issues discovered during the first two winters

Not Covered

  • Misuse of controls or unauthorized system modifications
  • Failure to perform recommended annual maintenance on hydronic systems
  • Electrical panel work done by other contractors
  • Cosmetic hairline cracking unrelated to system function
  • Damage from vehicle impact or heavy equipment

How to File a Claim

Our claims process is deliberately simple. Most covered issues are resolved within two visits.

Step One

Contact Us

Call (612) 461-7966 or email [email protected] with your name, address, and a short description of the issue. If it is winter and the system is down, tell us immediately so we can prioritize dispatch.

Step Two

Schedule Diagnosis

We schedule a diagnostic visit within two business days for warranty-covered concerns. Winter emergency calls are dispatched the same day when possible.

Step Three

On-Site Assessment

Our technician performs a full diagnostic, identifies the fault, and determines whether it falls under warranty. You receive a written report either way.

Step Four

Repair or Replacement

If the issue is covered, the visit, parts, and repair labor are all at no cost to you. We complete the work and verify the system before we leave.

Step Five

Follow-Up Verification

We check back after the next snow event to confirm the repair held. Every repair carries its own 12-month warranty from the date of service.

Need to File a Warranty Claim?

Call our office directly or use the online booking form to schedule a diagnostic visit. Existing clients receive priority scheduling during winter months.

Warranty Transferability

If you sell your home, the remaining workmanship warranty on your installation transfers to the new owner at no cost. This is important because it protects the value of the improvement you paid for, and it gives buyers confidence that the system was installed properly.

To transfer coverage, the new owner simply needs to notify us within 30 days of closing with the property address and a copy of the sale documentation. We update our records and send written confirmation of the transferred warranty. There is no transfer fee.

  • Transfer to new owner at no cost
  • One notification within 30 days of closing
  • Written confirmation issued to the new owner
  • Remaining years carry over in full
  • Manufacturer component warranties transfer independently
  • System service history provided to new owner

Warranty Questions

Common questions about our coverage terms and how they work in practice.

The workmanship warranty covers our labor and installation methods. If a failure occurs because of something we did, or something we should have done and did not, we repair it at no cost. Examples include faulty electrical connections we made, improper base preparation that later causes surface movement, incorrect tube or cable spacing that leads to uneven heating, or drainage issues caused by our grading work.
Ten years on workmanship for new driveway, walkway, and parking pad installations. Five years on retrofit installations. Twelve months on any repair we perform. Manufacturer warranties on equipment range from five to twenty years depending on the component and brand. All coverage starts from the date the system is commissioned and activated.
Hydronic systems require annual maintenance to keep the workmanship warranty in force. That means a yearly service visit for boiler tune-up, glycol concentration check, and system inspection. Electric systems do not have the same requirement, though a pre-season check is still recommended. Our annual service plans satisfy the maintenance requirement and are available on our Repair & Maintenance page.
The warranty is voided by damage from third parties such as plowing or excavation, unauthorized modifications to the system, electrical work performed by other contractors on the system circuit, failure to perform required hydronic maintenance, and use of salt or chlorides on the heated surface. It is not voided by normal use, weather, or by selling the home.
We schedule diagnostic visits within two business days for standard warranty concerns. Winter emergency calls, where the system has stopped heating during a snow event, are dispatched the same day when possible for existing clients in our service area. Our service fleet runs year-round with a dedicated winter emergency vehicle.
No. If the issue falls under warranty, the diagnostic visit, any parts, and the repair labor are all at no cost to you. If the issue is not covered by warranty, we still complete the diagnostic and provide a written report with a fixed-price repair quote. You only pay if you choose to proceed with a non-warranty repair.
Yes. The remaining workmanship warranty transfers to the new owner at no cost, provided they notify us within 30 days of closing with the property address and sale documentation. We update our records and send written confirmation of the transferred coverage. Manufacturer component warranties transfer independently according to each manufacturer's terms.
If the failure is covered by the workmanship warranty, which runs for ten years on new installations, we repair it at no cost. If the failure is due to a manufacturer component that has a shorter warranty period, we repair it at cost but often at a reduced labor rate because you are a warranty client. If the failure is due to third-party damage or misuse, it is handled as a standard repair with a written quote.
Keep the workmanship warranty certificate, the system layout drawing, the installation photographs, the recorded test readings, and the permit records. These are the documents we reference when servicing your system, and they are essential if you ever sell the property. We also keep digital copies in our records for the life of the system.
Yes. Clients on our Total Care annual service plan receive an extended component warranty on top of the standard coverage. Total Care also includes a full glycol flush, unlimited emergency dispatch, and repairs up to $500 per year included. Details are on our Repair & Maintenance page or you can call our office for a plan comparison.
Every diagnostic includes a written report with photographs and test readings, so you can see exactly what we found and why it falls on one side of the warranty line or the other. If you disagree with our determination, we are happy to review the report with you in person or by phone, and if needed, bring in the manufacturer's representative. We would rather spend the extra time reaching agreement than leave a client with doubt.
